In Advent Times ??

In the times of advent ??

I am not especially religious. I consider the issue of religious faith something that must be interpreted by each one, in their own way. That does not mean that I am excited about the traditions. I like the season of Advent and I like Christmas because of the excitement typical of those dates.

I am excited to hear from those we do not see or hear so much, I am happy in December and I regret it in January; of excess purchases and forgetting the scale.

The two sides of Advent and Christmas

But I am also saddened because parties are nostalgic. We mourn what we have lost and yearn for what we may never achieve, I am infuriated by human lightness in the times of Advent …

Family reunited in advent times

I am not blaming the celebration of Christmas or anything like that, and what infuriates me is sure that you have it as clear as I do … Do you notice that in those days before Christmas, everyone seems to change their temperament and intentions?

My grumpy co-worker seems to have received a greater dose of sweetness, the saddened are suddenly more cheerful, and those who never remember you reappear overnight.

Everyone is determined to be generous with gifts, and will even show a little generosity to someone in need in the middle of the street… It is the season of Advent. It is not difficult to be generous to someone else.

Generosity has no date

Generosity is present on many levels of existence. You can be generous when you spend a little time listening to someone else, when you are interested in the people around you, when far from turning your face, you are willing to face the miseries of life, and give a euro to those who may not improve his life with it, but somehow you remind him, that someone may care about his existence.

It is touching someone’s life, and it should not be only during a time, just a few weeks in which we count the days until Christmas arrives. Sadness and loneliness do not end, neither does abandonment, not even unemployment or lack of money for many.

Far from filling ourselves with New Year’s resolutions, which we hardly ever fulfill, why not think about what we can do with our grain of sand? Have you thought about giving away a little time a week as a volunteer? Did you think of donating a little, even one euro, to alleviate hunger in the many places where people live with daily shortages?

Small gestures throughout the year

And, without being more poetic, let’s bring the spirit of Advent closer, not a few days of December, but many days of the year … So, at least it is as it should be.

Spend more time with your children, listen more to your partner, visit your parents that you barely remember at parties, forget the offenses they have done to you and assume that forgiving is something healthy for yourself .

Maybe you should think about making a point of retaining that Christmas enthusiasm and being more tolerant, as you always hope they will be with you; You can try not to get so angry, be less critical, be closer to your friends and your family.

You will thus be able to embody the true feeling of Christmas, to treat others as you want them to treat you. Realize that it is not the season, that day by day you can be as special as during the days of Advent. Everything is possible if you are willing to think of someone other than yourself.
